HP Pavilion x360 14 m-dh1003dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I am having the exact same issue as this topic has mentioned with my HP Pavilion x360.

To be exact, the issue is: When in use, battery use seems fine, however when I turn the laptop off (I don't tend to put it into sleep mode or hibernate) I have noticed the battery can drain significantly, around 10% over 24 hours, or 0.44 percent every hour. This happens consistently.

As of right now, I have gone to HP Warranty Center and had my battery and motherboard replaced under warranty by HP but the issue still persists.

Therefore I'd like to request for support on the forum too in case there is any help that can be provided.

Thank you,

Ethan.

You said you are not putting the laptop into sleep or hibernate mode -- but unless you specifically DISABLED FastStartup, you ARE -- because that is the DEFAULT for Win10 laptops.

Win10 has enabled a new hibernation process known as Fast Startup -- which is enabled BY DEFAULT.

This is different from Fast Boot, which is a BIOS/UEFI option.

Fast Startup is supposed to dramatically speed up the booting process, but in some PCs, it actually slows it down or causes it to hang. It's also a new form of hibernation known as hybrid sleep -- and this causes battery drain to maintain the state of the PC while turned off.

Disabling Fast Startup might fix the booting problem.

There are two ways to disable FastStartup in Win10: (1) through the Control Panel, and (2) through an elevated command prompt.

Control Panel - Open Control Panel --> Power Options.
Select "Choose what the power buttons do"
Select "Change settings that are currently unavailable"
At the bottom of the Window, under Shutdown settings, uncheck the box regarding fast startup

Elevated command prompt - run the following command:
REG ADD "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power" /V HiberbootEnabled /T REG_dWORD /D 0 /F

In both cases, reboot Windows.

NOW, FastStartup is disabled.

See if that helps.

Thank you for your detailed suggestion. Unfortunately, I have tried disabling Fast Boot and the battery still drops at the same speed.

Apparently this is an issues that once plagued HP Spectre laptops and the solution seems to come in an internal BIOS update called Sphinx.

As of now, no measures have worked for me so far.

Wish you luck on that -- as I have a similar situation and when I need to have the laptop not used for several days, I remove the battery, otherwise, it is dead.

Thank you.

This is a sad situation from HP that I hope I will hear from them sometime soon.

My HP Pavilion x360 doesn't even have removable battery, so I guess I don't have many choices at all 😞

Sorry to say this, but there is nothing more we can do for you from here.

You already had warranty work done on it, and it's unlikely that they are going to do that again soon.

Your best bet is probably to contact HP Customer Support directly to discuss the situation with them.

To contact HP Support see the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:
Step 1. Goto this page https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone number
Case number and phone number appear.
