Pavilion x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I own a Pavilion x360 u028tu. I used to get around 6 hours of battery life with it when I was running Windows 10 1511 (November update). But when I upgraded to Windows 10 Anniversary Update (build 14393.693), the battery meter only displays 4 hrs and 30 minutes, no matter the settings I change. Also, I know that time is not accurate, and I think this will only last me 2 hours. No more ability to roll back, as it has been more than 10 days. I also did a battery report through CMD, and it tells me that the charge cycle is still at its best performance. I'm trying to figure out what's causing the issue, and how I can fix it. Can anyone help?

I understand that you wanted to try the classic method of draining it all the way to 0 and charging it up back to 100 a possible alternative.

 

Yes, you may try the classic method. Also, try the battery calibration test in the link provided before.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are getting shortened battery life after upgrading to Windows 1o Anniversary Update.

 

This issue could occur if the battery is not calibrated after the update.

 

Let's go through a few steps to resolve this issue.

 

Please follow the steps to uninstall Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery:

 

1. Disconnect the A/C power supply

2. Shut down the computer

3. Remove the battery

4. Connect the A/C power supply

5. Start the computer

6. In the control panel, under system and security --> system --> device manager --> battery, uninstall "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery"

7. Shut down computer

8. Disconnect A/C power supply

9. Insert the battery

10. Insert the A/C power supply 

 

Also, follow the steps the links below to calibrate the battery:

 

1. Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 10)

 

2. Battery Does Not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge

Thank you for getting back. Because of your post, I am now suspecting that I do need to calibrate my battery. However, the x360's battery is not detachable, so I cannot fully follow your instructions above.

Is the classic method of draining it all the way to 0 and charging it up back to 100 a possible alternative? Thanks, and I await your kind reply.
