HP Simple Save md1000h will not launch in Window 10

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Unable to get Simple Save md1000h in both a Window 10 and Windows Vista computer.

SimpleSave is not supported in Windows 10.

 

Sadly, the fact that you cannot open the software (that lives on the disk) in Vista, suggest that the drive is bad, the power supply has failed, or some other nastiness has befallen the disk / software.   Result:  The data, even assuming it is still good, is forever locked on the disk.

 

Worse news:  No support available, that is, there is no company (HP or WD) download for the software.

 

If the data is not backed up somewhere else, AND you really, really need it, then you might take the disk to a forensic data tech.  Not cheap; maybe worth it.
