HP Spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I noticed this week that my HP Spectre would not sit flat on the desk. It rocks back and forth, appears to be swollen in the center. Is this a battery problem or a bottom cover problem?

Spectre x360 convertible;

Yes it is most likely the battery.

It is beginning to expand and can damage the laptop.

If it is under warranty contact HP.

If it is not then you should remove it ASAP.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

HI, I have the same problem.  Does HP want my info?  How do I order a new battery?

Hp contacted me via email. After filling out all the info they requested I send the compuer to HP, they replaced the battery & fan

@Kevin-T - mine has the same problem - but the first thing I noticed is that the track-pad left and right click are really hard to click at all - super stiff and the space-bar often doesn't work now. It was only recently I noticed the warping in the back case. Could this all be related?

Because laptop is connected to a universal docking station almost all the time, I never noticed if any keys or track-pad worked or not. What I did notice was the laptop would not lay flat on the desk, it would rock back and forth.
