HP Stream ( Need Hard Drive Space )

HP Stream 11-p010nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi to all an anybody that can help.. I do like my HP Stream, alot of negative post about space issues i have found, but I knew that when buying it that it was not huge, did find out later that it was a closed system, but that was the exchange for the lower price. Now what i am hoping for is a way around, meaning resolve the problem and quit complaining about the problem. So question i have are related to the update in Windows 10 for update 1607. I updated to 10 already and I am looking to update to the 1607 and am out of room by the needed 8 gb for the update, i have only 2.6 left and cleaned up as much as i can. So my question is can a SD card of any size be allocated in the C Drive for more capacity, or by using a SD card is there any work around that might help. I will admit i am not a novice tech guy, but can follow a step by step plan if given one. My issue with this has taught me plenty but no one seems to be asking my exact question. Thanks again to anybody that can help.

HP Stream ( Need Hard Drive Space )

@kma2ziak

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂

As I understand you've installed the windows update, however, you are affected by the low disk space and need a solution to it,

Don't worry as we should be able to work together and obtain more space on your drive:

  • Run the Disk Cleanup tool, and then at the bottom of the window that pops up, click on "Clean up system files". Check everything, hit OK, and let it run. You will free up several GB for sure.
  • Another thing to do is disable hibernate file. Run CMD as Administrator, and type the following:
  • powercfg hibernate off
  • Enjoy your extra space!

For a related link on HP Forums: Click here (Though the header/title may be different, the steps will help resolve your concern).

There are no such options to divert the data to an SD card as such, though that would be a good option 😉

For now, this is all we have and if you need any other assistance, please let me know.

If you wish to help others looking for the same solution as you've found, mark the post as Accepted Solution.

And I Hope you have a good day, Ahead.

HP Stream ( Need Hard Drive Space )

All the things you have listed, I have already done.  Also maybe I had said it wrong or not clear, but I have the update (1607) of windows 10 needed that says that i cant do, because of space.  I already currently have wondows 10 just cant do as i see any big updates.  I'll read the forums and see if there is any other intel i can grab from them, but still lost. If you cnt allocate a ssd card to the c drive is there any other method to allocate to the c drive?

Thanks for the reply and providing more information. Recommend you to refer to this Microsoft forums post. You can download the media creation tool on wherein the Windows 10 1607 is already embedded to an external hard drive and install it to your computer.

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the "Accepted Solution" and "Kudos" buttons, that’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!
