Envy 17t laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had a number of HP laptops over the years and they all have had the same problem.  I always keep the PC on, plugged into A/C,  and never run it on battery.  However, over time the battery slowly discharges until it goes to zero.

 

In the past I have reported this problem to HP while the PC was still under warranty and they have sent me a free replacement battery, which does the same thing.   I no longer bother.

 

However, recently, this recently caused McAfee to disable virus protection, and they finally solved it by turning off an internal switch which did a battery check.

 

I also have HP desktops and have never had a problem with them, but I will never get another HP laptop.

 

I've seen posts about getting a battery-charging device, but since I don't rely on the battery,  I'm not interested.  HP should build this capability into their laptop hardware.

 

I am posting this so others know about this problem and can act accordingly.
