Hi,

A few months ago, I noticed that even if the laptop is completely turned off, it consumes about 3% of the battery in 24 hours. So it consumes 30% of the battery in ten days, which I find quite unacceptable. Local HP service says this is normal but as I mentioned earlier this does not seem normal to me. What do you think about that? Is this normal?

Thanx

Modern laptops with enclosed battery use the Main battery for powering the motherboard even when off. There used to be a CMOS or RTC battery but no more. Also Windows 8 and higher have a weird sleep state that is not 100% asleep so the system can power on faster. This explains the power draw when you think the laptop is off. 3% per day is a bit much but the current setup is going to draw at least 1% or more every night.
