Hey Carbyne here!

My parents had this PC stored away after its performance was very poor. We all thought it was just the PC that was 'old' but I ran benchmark today and was pretty superised learning its issues. Boot Drive, Graphics, and Procceser ran very poorly which explains the slow loading, slow web browsing. Which leds me to question, the product we already own are we able to upgrade the specs(Processor, Graphics) so we are able to use it for work? If so, what would you prefer to upgrade. This is only for work.

If not what product would you recommend that's reliable for work.

Additonal notes: Wifi connectivity is smooth, no physical damage or viruses.

Heres the info for the PC:

Processor: AMD E2-3800 APU

Problem: Performing way below expectations (12th percentile)

Bench: Very Poor

Graphics Card: AMD HD 8280

Problem: Performing above expections(69th Percentile)

Bench: Terrible(?^)

Drive: WD Blue 500GB(2010)

Probelm: No issues

Bench: Good

Memory Kit: Kingston HP698656-154-KEB 1x4GB

Problem: Performing way below expections(5th percentile)

Bench: Terrible

Program used: UserBenchmark

Processor, Graphics and Boot Drive highlighted red for poor performance.

Hi,

Welcome to HP Support Forum. The following link shows specs of your parents' machine:

    http://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04072202

No, you can't upgrade CPU nor Graphics because

  • AMD Radeon HD 8280 graphics (combined with the processor)
  • Supports DX11
  • Discrete graphics are not supported on this motherboard

and

The motherboard supports the AMD Kabini E2-3800 APU only. The processor is not upgradable.

Since you are happy with its HDD, one thing you can upgrade:

Memory upgrade information

  • Single channel memory architecture
  • Two 204-pin DDR3 SODIMM sockets
  • Supports up to PC3-12800 (DDR3-1600)
  • Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered
  • Supports 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB and 8 GB SODIMMs
  • Supports up to 16 GB on 64-bit systems

And this will give you a bit (yes a small) improvement.

Regards.
