Hi @kowsol,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you’d like to know if Type-C earphones will work with your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2075AX before buying them. Let’s break it down:

Check Your Laptop’s USB-C Port Type

The Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2075AX has a USB-C port for data transfer only.

It does not support audio output or charging through USB-C.

Type-C Earphones Compatibility

Type-C earphones require the USB-C port to support audio over USB-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode with audio or USB-C audio class drivers).

Since your laptop’s USB-C port doesn’t have that feature, Type-C earphones will not work directly.

What Will Work

Use the 3.5 mm headphone jack on your laptop — this supports any regular wired earphones/headphones with a standard audio plug.

If you really want to use Type-C earphones, you’d need a USB-C to 3.5 mm DAC adapter that works with Windows, but that’s extra hardware.

How to Confirm

You can check in your laptop’s specifications on HP’s support site. Under “I/O Ports,” the USB-C is listed as SuperSpeed USB Type-C 5Gbps signaling rate (data only),  no mention of audio.

Only laptops with “USB-C with DisplayPort / Power Delivery” often support audio output through Type-C.

I hope this helps.
