Thanks for replying with the information. I appreciate you taking your valuable time to troubleshoot.

If this happened all after the update then I suggest you to rollback the drivers and check if it helps. To rollback, the drivers, open the device manager and right click on the driver and select rollback.

If the issue persists then you could open the device manager and uninstall the drivers in "display adapters" and "Sound video and game controllers."

The fresh set of the drivers can be downloaded from the below links for Win10:

Hope this does the trick. Let me know what happens. All the best! 🙂

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP Pavilion 15-n268sa Notebook PC. I read that you get a message on your laptop when you power it up, stating that "your computer needs to be restarted in order to finish setting up device High Definition Audio Bus".

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did any changes take place with respect to the audio drivers recently?
  • Are you able to play audio files on your laptop? Or play a video and hear the audio clearly from it?
  • If you cancel this message then does it reoccur again while using the laptop?

Meanwhile, I did some research and suggest you to perform the following steps to disable this message:

  • In Windows, type msconfig into Search, and then select System Configuration from the search results in Windows 10. The System Configuration window opens. and looks like the below image:

General tab

  • Click on the Startup tab. Under that you will get a list of all programs that load initially when Windows starts.
  • In this list check for anything that says "High Definition Audio Bus" or "Intel High Definition Audio Bus" and uncheck it.
  • Also, check under the Services tab and disable anything that says "High Definition Audio Bus" or "Intel High Definition Audio Bus" and uncheck it.
  • Click on Apply and OK.
  • The laptop requires a restart.

After the restart, please check if the message appears. I sincerely hope this fixes the issue.

Let me know how it goes. Cheers! 🙂

  • Did any changes take place with respect to the audio drivers recently? Yes, I updated my graphics card drivers using AMD'S Catalyst Control centre which also updated drivers such as my audio and things related to HDMI.
  • Are you able to play audio files on your laptop? Or play a video and hear the audio clearly from it? Yes, Audio works perfectly fine.
  • If you cancel this message then does it reoccur again while using the laptop? Yes
  • There is nothing related to "High Definition Audio Bus" or "Intel High Definition Audio Bus" in the start up tab as shown.                                                           start up.PNG

  • There is also nothing under the services tab related to "High Definition Audio Bus" or "Intel High Definition Audio Bus" as shown.
