Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop uses more than 50% of RAM even when idle. This problem started about a few weeks back. I contacted HP support and was advised that I restore the last save point. But this did not fix it and the support engineer said that this is normal. The problem I have is that after I open a few apps, the memory consumption shoots up to > 95%, and then the laptop freezes. It crashes and restarts on its own. I disabled as many services as I could and still, this does not help. The only option left I feel, is to upgrade the RAM and see if that will prevent the crash. Any suggestions from the forum before I embark on the upgrade would be appreciated.
