I noticed that many other people have had the same problem where the hinge is defective and causes the screen to break/separate from the unit. I have reached out to HP, and despite this obviously being a manufacturer defect, they refuse to repair it and only offer me 40% discount to repair something I did not break. I am unable to afford repairing the laptop and shouldn't have to. The laptop being out of warranty is irrelevant to the fact that there is a manufacturer defect. I did not damage my laptop. I have always taken excellent care of it, keeping it in a padded case during any travel. I went to simply close it one day and the screen split where the left hinge is, followed by a screw falling out from the inside through the separation. Even when I did reach out to HP, the customer service was an endless circle of being shuffled around from person to person, ghosted, and with no resolve.
