HP Laptop - 17t-by300 CTO

The hinge broke on my laptop in less than 18 months.  I had the same problem with my previous HP laptop.  Are they all this shoddy?  And how do I get it fixed?

I see you are experiencing Hinge issues with the HP Notebook. It is a hardware issue on the PC. 

 

As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now. I would request you to contact our HP Support Engineers and should be able to sort this out. HP provides repair or service options for out of warranty products as well. Hence I encourage you to contact HP support for all warranty service options.

 

Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options.

What HP support engineers?  Do they exist?  Using the link you provided, the closest site is over 100 miles away, and they aren't even HP employees.  They said they couldn't get the part from HP, would have to get it from Amazon or some other site, and quoted me $250.  So, I paid $1100 less than 1.5 years ago and now I'm supposed to drive 200 miles and pay $250 to fix a hinge.

And the virtual assistant was no use at all.

I'm done with HP.  This is the second HP laptop I've had where the hinge broke.  I was a software engineer at HP for 13 years, back in the day when they took pride in the high quality of their products.
