Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Notebook - 15-bw057ur (2BT75EA) is very slow.

How can I increase the productivity? Is AMD A9-9420 changable to modern one?

Hi:

Max out the memory to 16 GB ( 2 x 8 GB).

Replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD.

The processor is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.

Below is the link to the service manual.

You can upgrade few things to make it runs better:

1. CPU: you can't change CPU, you have to by new System board on the following list

  • AMD A12-9720P processor and 4 GB of discrete graphics memory part # 924722-601
  • AMD A12-9720P processor and 2 GB of discrete graphics memory part # 924726-601
  • AMD A10-9620P processor and 2 GB of discrete graphics memory part # 924723-601
  • AMD A9-9420P processor and 2 GB of discrete graphics memory part # 924724-601     (your current machine)
  • AMD A9-9420P processor and 2 GB of discrete graphics memory (models with both hard drive and solidstate
    drive) part # 929587-601
  • AMD A6-9220P processor and 2 GB of discrete graphics memory part # 924725-601

2. RAM: You can replace 2GB + 4GB of RAM to 8GB + 8GB = 16GB (max) using the following compatible RAM (will run at 1866MHz)

                https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k8g4sfs824a/ct10903707

3. STORAGE: Looks like your machine does NOT have M.2 slot because the above list shows only 1 system board does have M.2 slot therefore you can only upgrade 2.5" HDD to 2.5" SSD using Crucial MX500 or Samsung 860EVO or similar. For example

               https://www.crucial.com/ssd/bx500/ct1000bx500ssd1/ct15842148

I would upgrade RAM first (cheapest) to see performance increase before moving to storage. New System board would be very expensive, buying new machine may be a better option.

Regards.
