How to install a new NVme m.2 on a new HP laptop that has NOT NEVER been booted by me. Brand new.

Hi,

I recently bought a HP laptop (15z-eh000) and then bought a new NVMe M.2 drive separately.  NOTE:  This particular model has only a single M.2 and no SATA connector.

How do I install a new NVme m.2 on a new HP laptop that has NOT NEVER been booted up by me?  To be clear, I'd like to take out the original HP NVMe M.2 drive and replace it with the one I bought, let's call it MyM2.

Question#1:

Do I HAVE to first run through the windows 10 installation from the original HP NVMe M.2 drive first, then remove it and then put in my new drive and THEN run windows 10 installation again by downloading a copy of windows 10 from microsoft via an ISO image through the usb?  This laptop has only a SINGLE M.2 slot.

Question#2:

Is there anyway that I can obtain the original OEM HP image from the original M.2 drive or if there's somewhere that I can download HP's OEM install free of charge from HP without me shelling out money to get a recovery stick from HP?

Hi George,

You can install the new M2 Drive right away, the Product key is in the firmware of the notebook.

Yes you can download the media creation tool from Microsoft and create a booatble drive with the latest version of the OS. One you replace the drive and insert the USB the computer will boot from the USB. After installation you should let the computer completly update and it will install all the needed drivers

You could then install Hp support assistant for drivers and loads more

You should also be able to use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a USB drive with the original image
