Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I am trying to replace the 240GB SSD with a 500GB Crucial SSD. I want to do a clean install, not clone the existing drive, to get rid the crud that has accumulated over the past 4 years.

I have initialized the new drive. I made a bootable USB and 'burned' a copy of the Win 7 Pro ISO, and changed the boot order. The laptop boots from the USB & copies files; I choose the country, language & keyboard. Next comes a pop-up:"Cannot find CD/DVD drivers" (or words to that effect). There is an option to Browse, however, the only drives that are listed are the blank C drive, and X drive, which I assume is a virtual drive. Nowhere are there any drivers. Crucial support says the drive does not require any special drivers.

How do I get around this problem?

Thanks,

David

Hi David12228,

Please just try unplugging and replugging the USB or trying it in a different port. Many users find this as the simple solution.

Also please check under BIOS if there is anything such as USB 3.0 support and if there is, try setting it to AUTO.

Otherwise, please refer to this document: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/2755139/a-media-driver-your-computer-needs-is-missing-or-a-...

Hope this helps,

Thanks for your input. I had completely forgotten that when Win 7 came out there was no USB 3. So yes, in the BIOS there was a choiceL USB# or Auto. Changing to Auto fixed that issue.
