Yes. It can be upgraded to 8GB. For best results it is highly recommended that you upgrade only in single memory or dual ( absolutely identical!) module configuration. The 6 GB configuration described below was done by HP and tested in a lab for quality assurance.
From the notebook's Maintenence & Support guide
Two SODIMM customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slots
DDR3L-1600-MHz dual channel support DDR3L-1333-MHz single channel support (DDR3L-1600 downgraded to DDR3L-1333)(E1 processors) Supports up to 8 GB max system memory (DDR3L-1600MHz module), (select models only)
1 Category Description Nontouch Touch Supports the following system RAM conƭgurations
● 8192 MB (8192 MB×1)
● 6144 MB (4096 MB×1 + 2048 MB×1)
● 4096 MB (4096 MB×1 or 2048 MB×2)
● 2048 MB (2048 MB×1)
I it also recommended that when upgrading do not try to match the bandwidth configurations as seen above. Use memory manufacturers websites to see which modules they guarantee are compatible in the upgrade configuration you want.
