I recently bought a hp omen 16 and there is an issue with the fans. After exiting a game the fans still ramp at 5500 rpm and don't slow down unless I remove the charger/switch to other modes/restart. My laptop is totally updated and everything is fine. Please give a solution. I want no bs about cleaning fans and resetting pc

Hi @Shai03kh,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you're experiencing an issue where the fan speeds on your HP Omen 16 remain high after gaming, which can be quite annoying. Given that you've already ensured that your laptop is fully updated and are not interested in basic troubleshooting steps, here are a few advanced solutions that might help:

May I know if you are getting any error messages or error codes?

1. Check BIOS Settings

  1. Enter BIOS: Restart your laptop and press F10 or ESC during startup to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
  2. Fan Control Settings: Look for fan control settings in the BIOS. Some systems allow you to adjust fan profiles or thresholds. Adjust these settings to ensure they are set to respond appropriately to temperature changes.
  3. Update BIOS: Ensure your BIOS is updated to the latest version available from HP’s support site, as newer BIOS versions can resolve hardware control issues.

2. Modify Fan Control with HP Omen Command Center

  1. Open HP Omen Command Center: This application often includes fan control options.
  2. Check Fan Profiles: Review the fan profiles and see if you can create or adjust profiles to manage fan speeds better.
  3. Custom Fan Profiles: You might be able to create a custom profile that sets more appropriate fan speeds based on your usage.

3. Advanced Power Settings

  1. Open Power Options: Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
  2. Change Plan Settings: Click on Change plan settings next to your current power plan.
  3. Change Advanced Power Settings: Click on Change advanced power settings.
  4. Processor Power Management: Expand Processor power management, then System cooling policy, and set it to Passive. This setting will prioritize reducing the processor speed over increasing fan speed.

4. Software Conflicts

  1. Check for Conflicting Software: Sometimes, third-party software or even other system utilities can conflict with the fan control. Ensure that there’s no other software that might be interfering with the fan management.
  2. Clean Boot: Try performing a clean boot to see if the problem persists. This can help identify if a background process or service is affecting the fan control.

5. Update or Reinstall Drivers

  1. Update Chipset Drivers: Go to HP’s support website and make sure all chipset drivers are up to date.
  2. Reinstall HP Support Assistant: Sometimes reinstalling the HP Support Assistant can fix issues related to system management.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I tried everything that was possible. I bought a new laptop that's not even a week old and you expect me to update the bios and clean fans what not. If you don't tell me the perfect solution for this I'll go to consumer forum.
