HP Notebook 17-y040nf
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I have a HP Notebook 17-040nf with an AMD Quad-Core E2-7110 processor. My question is if I can upgrade it and which are the compatible ones.

Thank you!

Your manual

See page 19 section For use in models with UMA graphics: for possible processor/system board upgrade.

See page 56 to remove fan/heat sink to check if processor is socketed or soldered.

Depending on whether processor is soldered on board, you may have to replace the whole system board.

See page 61 for system board replacement procedure.

Hi,

It is not possible to upgrade the CPU as it integrated on the motherboard (soldered). You would need to replace the whole motherboard which will be a really expensive procedure and might be cheaper to purchase a new PC with desired specs.

On page 61 of service manual you can see a list of compatible UMA system boards:

A quick upgrade you could perform is replacing the 2.5" HDD with a 2.5" SSD which would give a performance boost.

Hope it helps,

David
