I am a novice in this arena but i want to replace my drive with an ssd drive and beef up the memory to 16gb. I need to know specifically what memory to buy and which ssd will work with my system. The laptop is less than two years old and works fine, I just want to speed it up. Specific recommendations would be appreciated.
Thank you

Hi! @scottballou04, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!
I understand you would like to know if you can upgrade hard drive and memory on your laptop.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?
I don't see SSD drives for your PC however, I have checked the specifications of the laptop and there is an m.2 SSD slot on your laptop so you can install an M.2 SSD on your PC.
Please find the M.2 SSD part number listed below.
Single SSD configuration:
● M.2 SATA DRAM–less: 128 GB
Or you can install an SSHD drive on your PC. Please find the part number listed below.
500 GB 5400–rpm, 7mm SSHD with 8 GB NAND 732000–005
About SSHD- Get the responsiveness of solid state memory and the capacity of a hard drive in a highly affordable package with the HP 500GB SATA 6G 2.5 (8GB Cache) solid state hybrid drive (SSHD), which delivers fast boot-up, shut down, and application loading.
Also, you can upgrade the memory on your PC using the part number listed below. I see there are 2 memory slots available on your PC. You have to use to use 8GB memory on each slot to make it 16GB.
8.0–GB 2133MHz DDR4 820570–005
