Hi @8CG3122FS1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
The HP Pavilion x360 14-ek1018 model does not come with an IR (infrared) camera out of the box, which is required for Windows Hello facial recognition. Unfortunately, adding an IR camera to a laptop that didn't originally include one is not a straightforward upgrade.
Options for Using Windows Hello Face
If your current laptop model doesn't support an IR camera for Windows Hello face recognition, you have a couple of alternatives:
Option 1: External IR Camera
You can use an external USB IR camera that supports Windows Hello. These are readily available and can be connected to your laptop.
- Purchase an External IR Camera:
- Look for webcams specifically advertised as compatible with Windows Hello. Some popular options include the Logitech BRIO and the Creative Live! Cam.
- Connect and Set Up:
- Connect the external IR camera to your laptop via USB.
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions for installing any necessary drivers or software.
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Windows Hello Face and follow the prompts to set up facial recognition.
Option 2: Use Other Windows Hello Options
If you don't want to use an external camera, you can still benefit from other Windows Hello features:
Fingerprint Reader:
- If your HP Pavilion x360 14-ek1018 model includes a fingerprint reader, you can use Windows Hello fingerprint login.
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Windows Hello Fingerprint to set it up.
PIN or Password:
- You can also set up a secure PIN or password as an alternative.
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options to set up a PIN.
Summary
While your HP Pavilion x360 14-ek1018 does not support an IR camera for Windows Hello face recognition, you can still use an external IR camera or other Windows Hello sign-in options like a fingerprint reader or a PIN. If you decide to go with an external IR camera, make sure it's compatible with Windows Hello to ensure a smooth setup process.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
