Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone 🙂

I have Model 14-bs044na

prodID: 2CQ55EA#ABU

and it served me well so far, but its getting very sluggish and the task manager is showing CPU at 50% and ram at 90% so i thought more RAM would make it usable for a bit longer.

I tried looking up for information regarding how many slots are on the motherboard and what is the maximum per slot, but couldnt find it.

Please can some one point me into direction here, id like to know how many slots for ram the motherboard posses and what is the maximum per slot, if you can tell me also internet shop to buy them from that would be fantastic,

Thank you.

@gzgzgz

PCs don't BECOME sluggish due to lack of RAM.  If the PC is slowing down NOW in performance, adding more RAM is not going to fix that issue.

It's more likely the result of a failing hard drive.

If your PC is new enough to support UEFI, you can use these steps to test the hard drive: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00439024

If not, to check the drive you have to follow these steps:
1) Press Esc key repeatedly, several times a second, while rebooting the laptop. Do NOT hold the key down, just press it over and over.
2) Eventually, you will see an HP Startup Menu
3) Press the Function key for testing the hard drive (usually F2) and let it run.

Thank you WAWood for your replay,

ive passed the test and it was successful.

the laptop is getting sluggish when im changing programs, opening more tabs, etc, so its definitively the RAM.

Id like to upgrade the ram can someone point me in a direction please.

Im from UK so a UK vendor will be ideal

Thank you very much

Hi, @gzgzgz

The reason your notebook is sluggish is because it has a low performance Pentium processor and 4 GB of memory.

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c05541283

Your notebook has only one memory slot, so in order to upgrade the memory to the 8 GB max, you will need to remove the 4 GB chip and replace it with an 8 GB chip.

Your notebook already has a SSD, so you are good there.

Below is the link to the Crucial, UK memory report for your notebook.  They offer compatible memory.
