Hello,

 

I have a 6510b (product no: GP024AV) notebook. It's factory default optical drive is a HL-DT-ST GSA-T20N .

The drive has no Lightscribe designations on or inside it. My question is:

- Is HL-DT-ST GSA-T20N lightscribe capable?

 

Non-relevant extra information:

- OS: MS Windows Pro 8.1 EN x64

- LightScribeService Direct Disc Labeling Service is up running

- Control Panel of Lightscribe System Software version 1.15.x.x and version 1.18.27.10 reports, "No Lightscribe Drives Found".

- Kaspersky Total Security is in effect without any special settings, if any,  made for LSS.

- Notebook rebooted intentionally a couple of times.

- IMPORTANT NOTE: I'm NOT discussing whether W8.1ProX64 is LSS aware or not. My only concern at this moment is, " Is HL-DT-ST GSA-T20N lightscribe capable?"

I don't believe that it is according to the specs.

You can confirm that by running the Nero Info tool and it will report every capability that DVD can do.

BTW...I noticed that you posted a question a while back asking if you can run 8 GB of memory in your notebook, and you should be able to.

 

I have two HP 6910p's which have the same chipset and processor series as yours, and I am running 2 x 4 GB of PC2-6400 memory in mine with no problem.

 

The chipset will only run the memory at 667 MHz, not 800.

 

It would be very expensive to upgrade to 4 GB DDR2 memory chips nowadays.
