Is it possible to upgrade hp pavillion x360 13-a020nr to 16 gb ram?
Do I have to buy 2 8gb modules or 1 will be enough?

Your machine supports
2 SODIMM slots
Support for DDR3L-1600MHz
Support for dual channel
Supports up to 8096-MB maximum on-board system memory

In short: you can't add more RAM because RAM is soldrerd to the motherboard.

Thank you for you reply.
I've reviewed this manual and got couple of new questions.
Could you please clarify what is "2 SODIMM slots DDR3L-1600MHz" stand for?
Why there are 8 GB memory modules listed in major components section?
Is it for some other modification of this notebook?

Hi, @VBenedichuk :
I think the only person who can answer your question would be someone who has the same model as yours and actually took it apart to see.
As banhien wrote...chapter 1 for both the AMD and Intel versions of the model series state the max memory is 8 GB.
But like you wrote, there are options for 8 GB memory modules in the parts list.
Also, if you look at the parts diagram in chapter 3, page 17 of the service manual, it clearly shows that there are two removable memory modules illustrated there as #8.
Then chapter 5, page 61 provides the memory module removal and replacement procedures, and only discusses one memory module.
So, there is conflicting information in the manual, and it all can't be right.
So, the only way I can think of that you might be able to get your question answered without taking the notebook apart (which seems to be a lot of work), would be to run the free Crucial memory scan tool, and see what it reports.
