HP 15-bs186nz
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

I have a HP 15-bs186nz laptop. I have the following questions:

- is there any manual for this?

- is it possible to increase the memory? It is currently equipped with 1 x 8 GB RAM

- is it possible to add a SSD? Currently, there is a SATA hard-drive installed, but this is quite slow and an additional SSD on the PCI slot would be great

I have searched for the HP partnumbers for the above, but they are not available for sale from HP; do other partnumbers match, as well?

Many thanks in advance!

Look at the picture. If that M.2 slot is present you can have an M.2 SSD PLUS the HDD.

Yes memory and storage can be upgraded. Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

Uses DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM and has 2 slots. Officially 2 x 8 = 16 is the max but it can take 2 x 16 = 32. 16 is the most that the vast majority of users will ever need, however.

It is designed to have a slot for an M.2 SATA SSD. Start on p. 45 of the Manual to remove the back cover and inside is this:

Above are links to memory and SSD you could use from amazon Germany. Please open the laptop before buying to confirm the presence of the M.2 slot. Sometimes it is missing.

Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

Thank you so much for the quick and exceptional reply.

What I am still not sure if I can insert a SSD, additional to the actual HDD, or just exchange them.

Thanks!
