Is my hp pavillion 15-ec2144ax is compatible with gen4 ssd and please give me information about empty slots for storage expansion (empty slot is sata or m.2 ) ?

A Gen 4 SSD will work but since your notebook's M.2 SSD slot is only PCIe Gen 3.0, a Gen 4.0 SSD will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds from the Gen 3 slot.
