@Sammoses777, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

The issue you're facing with your laptop not charging properly could be caused by several factors. Here's a troubleshooting guide to help you identify and resolve this issue:

Check Power Connections:

  • Ensure that the power adapter is properly connected to both the laptop and a working electrical outlet.
  • Try using a different power outlet to rule out any issues with the current one.

Inspect Adapter and Cable:

  • Examine the power adapter and cable for any visible damage. If damaged, consider replacing them.
  • Try using a different compatible adapter if available to see if the issue persists.

Battery Status:

  • Go to your laptop's control panel or use the HP Power Manager to check the battery health and status. If it's not recognized, it might indicate a hardware issue.

Battery Health Management Settings:

  • Access the HP Power Manager (if available) to verify the battery settings.
  • Make sure the charge settings are not set to limit the charge or optimize battery health by capping it at 80% as this might affect how it charges.

BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup by pressing F10 repeatedly as it starts.
  • Navigate to the "Power Management" or similar tab and check the settings related to battery and power. Ensure these are set correctly.

Software and Drivers:

I hope this helps.
