I wanted to upgrade my hard drive to a 500 GB SSD. Would that be possible in my laptops' case? If possible I would also like to keep the initial 1 TB HDD that I got with it as well.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, 
After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you have 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA hard drive installed on the PC.

And your computer support up to 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD.
