My laptop shuts down whenever, it seems, pressure is applied to the top left area of the keyboard, where the left side USB and headphone outlets are. In fact, if I rotate my headphone jack, or take it out, or bump it slightly, it may cause the laptop to shut off-- same goes for the USB outlet if I have something plugged in there. My laptop shuts down sometimes, too, when I move the screen by holding it the top and holding the bottom left corner of the keyboard, I assume because the motion puts pressure on the top left side of the keyboard. Sometimes just holding the laptop without closing it causes it to shut down. I've gotten more severe errors because the laptop has shut down AGAIN as it boots, which is concerning. This is a colossal problem, and I've yet to see any discussion or help on it.

Hi @PeytonMitzel,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Update the BIOS. If still, the issue remains the same.

As this is a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!
