Laptop battery continues to drain power when turned off

My laptop battery loses power rapidly when the PC is turned off.  Not sure why or how.  Is this a curable problem?  The battery is embedded and not user replaceable.

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

That's because when you turn off a Win10 PC, it is NOT really shut down.

Win10 comes with a new form of Hibernation (known as FastStartup) enabled BY DEFAULT!

This means when you shut down the PC, it still remains ON (which is required for hibernation).

To STOP this from happening, you should disable FastStartup ...

There are two ways to disable FastStartup in Win8/10; (1) through the Control Panel, and (2) through an elevated command prompt.

Control Panel - Open Control Panel --> Power Options.
Select "Choose what the power buttons do"
Select "Change settings that are currently unavailable"
At the bottom of the Window, under Shutdown settings, uncheck the box regarding fast startup

Elevated command prompt - run the following command:
REG ADD "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power" /V HiberbootEnabled /T REG_dWORD /D 0 /F

In both cases, reboot Windows.

NOW, FastStartup is disabled.

This solution did resolve most of my shelf life battery power loss.  Subsequently, or post solution, I have measured a 5% loss of battery charge per 24 hour period when turned off.  Is this a normal loss or must I now make additional corrections?
