HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cc1xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm trying to determine if I can upgrade my HP Pavilion 15 with a secondary SSD as the boot drive for my windows OS so I can get the better boot times. I currently have a 2tb HDD which is fine for my files and storage, but it takes too long to boot the OS for when I need it on the go. The Hardware specs for my device list 2 TB 5400 rpm SATA and [16] under Hardrive, and I'm slightly confused as to which form factor [16] refers to, and whether or not I can actually upgrade to run two drives together. Thank you all very much.

What is your HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cc1xx  (xx can be from 00 to 99) ? Standard notebooks/laptops today - including yours - using 2.5" HDD (newer machine my use different formats).

You can upgrade to any 2.5" 2TB SSD on the market today but at the safe side, please use Crucial MX500/BX500 or Samsung 860 EVO SSD's. For example

Hi,

You can insert an M2 PCIe NVMe SSD in the M2 slot which will give an amazing boost to everyday performance.

An SSD such as the M2 Samsung 970 Evo Plus or Corsair MP510 or even cheaper (and slower) Crucial P1. You will need to install the OS on the SSD.

On page 43 of service manual you can see the steps to install the M2 SSD

Hope it helps,

David
