What is the deal with the M.2 SATA SSD slot on this laptop?  The receptacle looks different than all the M.2 SATA cards available.  Also the service manual is not accurate.  Has anyone here successfully installed M.2 SATA drives on this model?  If so what cards have you used?

Thanks!

Hi,

M.2 SATA-3 2242 SSD is the form factor listed to be compatible

https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04410212#AbT3

Which one are you trying?

Page 1, 35: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05228980

If a 32gb MLC flash cache mSATA SSD is already installed, M.2 SATA-3 SSD is not listed to be compatible in that machine.

@showmx

HP Elitebook 9480m machines only have options for 2.5" drives (HDD or SSD)

The M.2 slot is normally for a MiniCard SSD called flash cache. Some models have option to install 120GB MiniCard SSD (part # 769712-001)

You can buy from HP or

@Visruth, There is no support for M.2 NVME drives on 9480?
