HP Envy 15t-k100 Laptop
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

My Envy 15t-k100 laptop (PN G7Z03AV) isn't recognizing the new HP M.2 500 gb SSD I just installed.  After discovering the open SSD slot on the board during a memory upgrade, I was hoping to add the SSD, and make it the primary with the HDD as a backup for storage, but I can't get it visible in Disk Management.  Online research on this problem has been inconclusive, with speculation that the M.2 slot in my board was never connected during factory assembly.   I've updated the BIOS and tried tinkering with the limited settings afforded me there, to no avail.  Any advice on how to get the new SSD visible in the OS so I can use it?  Thanks in advance!

That type of M.2 ain't gonna work. That is a PCIe/NVME. You need a SATA like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-250GB-SATA-Internal-MZ-N6E250BW/dp/B07864V6CK/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&key...

Likely going to be B + M keyed rather than M keyed as you have now:

Which HP M/2 did you install? A PCIe/NVME is not going to be compatible. Must be a SATA M.2. On the back side of the motherboard, right?

I installed an HP EX900 M.2 SSD, yes, on the back of the board.  Is there a compatibility issue with this particular M.2, or is that slot even useable?

That looks like my problem!  Wish I'd seen this post before I bought... hope I can get it exchanged!

Thank you for your wise assistance, sir.
