Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi! I very recently purchased (online) the HP Envy x360 15-ed1052ms with i5-1135G7 processor, 512GB SSD storage, and 8GB of RAM memory.  OS is Windows 10 Home 64bit.

If anyone could help me please, I would appreciate finding out:

  1. Maximum RAM memory supported by both hardware and software?
  2. Specific memory module type to purchase?
  3. Recommended brand/s for the memory module (I am leaning towards Crucial, to be honest)

To provide context behind my question:

  • I anticipate that the 8GB RAM memory might not be enough given how I work with 2 additional monitors (27" and 24")  with several applications (mostly MS office, Chrome Browser, Zoom, File Browser, and messaging apps) all open and in use.
  • I am still awaiting delivery so please bear with me for my inability to share specific number codes (SN, PN, etc.).
  • I likewise do not have the actual manual on hand yet.
  • I would like to purchase the memory modules ahead so I can perform the upgrade when the unit is delivered
  • I have tried HP Virtual Assistant several times already, but have failed to get the specific product information guide for this model.
  • I have also done my own search on HP  sites but can't seem to find the exact manual for this model.
  • I am unfamiliar and confused with the model classifications that exist, so I do not know which other model's product manual might possibly substitute for this model.
  • I know I could benefit from a little more patience and wait for the actual unit and documentation -- but I just really want to prepare ahead, and not have to deal with a potentially sluggish laptop performance when I start using it.

Thank you in advance!

hi

I urge you to wait so that you can check directly
hp might for example show a certain module installed, but sometimes that's not what is in place
so this is product support information here
No brand to recommend, although generally I recommend the crucial scan, which is often correct!

Memory, standard
8 GB DDR4-3200 MHz RAM (2 x 4 GB)

 Maintenance and Service Guide

as for the manual, there is this one from the product page, but obviously does not correspond exactly!

@Prométhée

Hi! Thank you so much for your reply!

I guess I should indeed wait. It would definitely help clarify things.

But thank you for providing what seems like a close substitute product manual, as well as the memory specs, and affirming the choice to go for Crucial memory modules.

Hope it's alright to ask a follow-up question.

About the max memory, if these were the information indicated in the manual...

Memory Support for the following:

DDR4-3200, 1.2 V, nonupgradeable, onboard system memory in 16 GB, 12 GB, and 8 GB configurations

DDR4-2666, 1.2 V, nonupgradeable, onboard system memory in 16 GB, 12 GB, and 8 GB configurations

...could I therefore presume that the max memory would be 32GB (i.e. 16GB x 2 slots)?

hi sorry but

the manual corresponds to a previous series, it may help, but I doubt that it is 100% reliable
see at the beginning the list of processors
off the model here

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c07914627

Intel® Core™ i5-1135G7

But in fact, I find it unclear
if we look at the memory references, they indicate a 16gb module..
but what is explained leaves me in doubt, isn't there a single ugradable memory slot, I can't understand what they mean here

https://support.hp.com/th-en/product/hp-envy-x360-convertible-laptop-pc-15-ed1000/35831835/model/210...

see the other models, but I doubt they made a model with 32 gb
But anyway, 16gb is enough for many uses.

Thank you again for the reply!

I was trying to look for a product manual that uses the same processor, but it would just be too tedious to sort thru all the model variations of the 15-inch HP Envy.

I just wish that HP could come up with a simpler way of naming models, or at least make it easy to find the correct information on the website (not to mention a somewhat smarter and more reliable Virtual Assistant to help sort thru all the confusing information).

I fully appreciate your help!

I probably will just go for 16GB (8GB x 2) as you suggest. Perhaps the 32GB might be just something nice to have for future-proofing, but not a complete requirement for my use.

Thanks again!

Have a great week ahead! Cheers!

There are so many things to change here, we try to trace the information, when a manual is missing for example
but sometimes it seems very long..
For the search of models, sometimes it is faster to search with google!
Many thanks to you, had a very good week too, take care of yourself
