- Metallic plastic strip on HP laptop lids

Hi HP community,
I have a cosmetic problem with an HP Envy 360 laptop. The problem seems to apply to most HP laptops, so it's universal. I've tried to find a satisfactory fix off and on for the past year without success.
HP laptops have a single thin plastic strip on top of the lid. It usually has a metallic finish that mimmicks the aluminum of the rest of the lid. Like the rubber feet on the bottom, the strip has an adhesive base. In my case, one corner of this began to peel off and the strip cracked as it curled up. It looks bad and annoys me whenever I use my laptop (otherwise it's perfect for me). The laptop has never been stressed. It just sits on a table or desk indoors with air condition in the summer. The only time I took it out was to take it to the HP-recommended servicer for my area -- Best Buy. They said they'd never seen a similar issue and did not have the part I needed.
The fix should be simple -- a new strip, the same way you would get new rubber feet. But I haven't been able to find one. I don't even see the strip listed as a separate part on the HP Envy laptop parts diagram. Which is confusing. I know I'm not the only person this has happened to. It has to be a discrete part that frequently needs replacement, again like the rubber feet that are sold everywhere.
The laptop was just over a year old when this happened. Just out of warranty. I plan on using it as my main PC for another 5 years so would love to get this fixed. If anyone knows where I can get a replacement lid strip -- I would be very grateful if you shared.
Thanks,
Ben
PS -- if anyone knows why HP laptops have this strip at all, I've seen a few guesses but no confirmed answer. I've seen underneath the strip. It's just a few aluminum scaffolds with rubber underneath. The most compelling theory I've seen is that it's there to allow a better WIFI and Bluetooth.

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It’s frustrating when a small cosmetic issue like this affects an otherwise great laptop! Unfortunately, HP doesn’t seem to sell the lid strip separately, which is why it’s not listed in parts diagrams.
