Common problems for Battery

I have an HP 15-dy2795wm laptop that I bought last year. I have 2 wireless mice so that one is always charged for when the other needs recharging. The first months, I had no problems but all of a sudden, neither on will connect via bluetooth just with the dongle. The computer BT doesn't even recognize them even though they are on and discoverable. I've run every troubleshooter I can find and it just says everything is working fine. I can plug in the dongle and it works. I prefer using BT because I can keep track of the battery level. I can't connect my bluetooth keyboard either. I've got the latest driver for the Realtek 4.2 adapter but no change. All windows updates are also current.

Advice would be appreciated!

Hi @silentwolf13,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for explaining the situation clearly. Here’s what’s happening and how to fix it:

Why Bluetooth Stopped Working

Your HP 15-dy2795wm uses a Realtek Bluetooth adapter, and Windows updates or driver conflicts can sometimes disable Bluetooth functionality even though Device Manager reports “working fine.” Common causes:

  • Corrupted Bluetooth stack after updates
  • Power management settings are disabling the adapter
  • Outdated or mismatched Realtek driver

Step-by-Step Fix

1. Verify Bluetooth is Enabled

  • Press Windows + I → Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.
  • Make sure Bluetooth is on.

2. Remove All Paired Devices

  • In Bluetooth settings, remove the mice and keyboard.
  • Restart the PC.

3. Reset Bluetooth Services

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc.
  • Find:
    • Bluetooth Support Service
    • Bluetooth Audio Gateway Service
  • Set Startup type to Automatic and click Start if stopped.

4. Update or Reinstall Realtek Bluetooth Driver

  • Go to Official HP® Support.
  • Enter your model (HP 15-dy2795wm).
  • Download the latest Bluetooth driver.
  • In Device Manager:
    • Right-click Bluetooth adapterUninstall device.
    • Restart and install the downloaded driver.

5. Disable Power Saving on Bluetooth

  • In Device Manager:
    • Right-click Bluetooth adapter → PropertiesPower Management.
    • Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I cannot run through these step until probably this weekend. Though I did want to add that my cell phone connects via bluetooth just fine. It's other peripherals that won't connect

Hi @silentwolf13,

Thanks for the update! No worries, you can go through the steps whenever you have time.

Since you mentioned that your phone connects via Bluetooth without issues, that helps narrow things down. It means the Bluetooth radio on the PC is functioning, and the problem is likely specific to how the other peripherals (mouse, keyboard, earbuds, speakers, etc.) are pairing.

Take care and have an amazing day!
