Solved!

Missing drivers for various "base system devices" -- older dv6 laptop

HP Recommended
Pavilion dv6 model WA791UA#ABC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

In a similar post there was a link to the appropriate driver:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45010.exe

It was found in this message:
https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Problem-with-jmicron-ohci-compl...

I determined that this is the driver I need by searching for the following hardware ids:

PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2383&SUBSYS_3659103C&REV_00
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2383&SUBSYS_3659103C
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2383&CC_088000
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2383&CC_0880

There are two other "base system device" instances but have identical hardware id, except for the &DEV_238n part.
When I follow the link given, I get a note that I'm forbidden to go there.

Strangely, I have a folder on this laptop called SP45010 that contains  the files:

SP45010.CVA
SP45010.txt
WSSP45010.txt

Does the .CVA file contain the driver, and if so, how to I use it?

Thanks,

Hi:

You need the exe file to install the JMicron SD card reader.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45010.exe

This driver should install all instances of that device.

That link appears to be the same as the one that failed before.

This time though, I downloaded and installed the driver without error.

Many thanks!

This driver should install all instances of that device.

It did -- they now show under "Memory technology devices"
