Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've seen many similar issues on this forum that turn up being a defect of the motherboard. I was working on my laptop and got a notification that the battery was low, so I plugged it in to charge the battery.

Very soon thereafter my laptop just turned off making a low snapping sound, it left a lingering smell of burning throughout the room, and now it remains completely unresponsive. No lights will blink when I press the power  button, and I've tried changing it with two different chargers on all parts, with different outlets, with absolutely no effect. I have seen that people have received support for this issue from HP since it seems to be rather common, so I'm posting hoping that'll I'll receive a response. The laptop is less than two years old, however the warranty experied last October. I hope despite this that the problem is able to be fixed, since after paying around $1600 for the product I expected it to last longer than a year and a half, and I'd be very dissapointed in HP if they're not able to do something about this since it's essentially a manufacturing defect, and because of the burning shell potentially a safety hazard.

@Ricardo7890,

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
