HP dy-2035 Laptop

Is the motherboard only compatible with the exact motherboard for the model? or is it possible to change motherboards? (Model is HP dy-2035) i know it’s not an exact “gaming laptop” wanted to see if i can improve any performance or make any adjustments for both work, and some gaming.

Motherboard cross-compatibility is not limited to the exact same part number as you had. You can generally swap in a motherboard from the same model series. In other words, one that appears along with your exact part number motherboard in a single Maintenance and Service Guide. However, even this is not without some exceptions. There might be variations in something like compatible screen resolutions, backlit keyboards. You have to be able to make some educated deductions which are based on experience with laptop upgrades. If you have a specific question about a specific model we can likely help more specifically. Also unless it is a very old model the cost of replacement motherboards can be a deal breaker.
