Multiple Problems with New HP Pavilion Notebook

Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I just bought my new Hp Pavilion Laptop from Amazon and it arrived yesterday. This isn’t my first laptop or my first HP but this is my first time encountering so many problems with a new laptop. I’m new here so I think this is the right bored to post this here.

To start, I have noticed that the system charges very slowly and dies quickly. I had it plugged in for four hours and it’s only at 48%

Along with this, when I unplug the charger my screen goes very dim, even when the brightness is all the way on high and battery saver is off.

Finally, the fan is very loud even with correct ventilation.

Im mainly concerned about the slow charge but the multiple problems with this new laptop are worrying too.

Multiple Problems with New HP Pavilion Notebook

@Emily171,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

Let's try re-installing the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery

1) In the search box, type and open “Device Manager”.
2) Expand “Batteries”.
3) Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.
4) Click on “Uninstall”.
5) At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver
6) Shutdown the computer.
7) Remove the battery for minute and then put it back in.
8) When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.
9) Go to Device Manager.
10) Expand Batteries.
11) Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.
12) Click "Search automatically for updated driver software". Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.

Also, try updating the computer -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 HP Support Assistant Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

This document has the most relevant troubleshooting if your battery appears to be not charging.

Battery Does not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge

Next thing, regarding the fan noise, I would suggest you go through the steps suggested in this support document for - HP Notebook PCs - Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly (Windows)

Let me know how it goes for further assistance.
