How much memory and what type of memory you need to order depends on the model Intel processor your specific notebook has.

HP Recommended
DDR4-2400  or DDR4-2133 (transfer rates up to 2133 MT/s) memory modules,  unless your laptop has the Intel Celeron N3060 processor.
 
For the Intel Celeron N3060 processor, DDR3L-1600 memory is the only compatible memory type.
