Hi @Islandsboys,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When a high-frequency noise occurs while your laptop is in screen saver or sleep mode, it might be due to several factors, such as power settings or hardware issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this problem:

Adjust Power Settings:

  • Access the power management settings on your laptop and try adjusting them. You may want to change the screen saver settings or adjustments related to sleep mode to see if they eliminate the noise.

Check Power Options:

  • Navigate to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options on your laptop.

  • Select a power plan and click on "Change plan settings."

  • Then click on "Change advanced power settings."

  • Check and modify settings related to sleep mode, processor power management, and other available options to see if the noise is reduced.

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure all your drivers, especially those related to display and sound, are up to date. Check the https://support.hp.com/us-en for the latest drivers and firmware updates for your specific laptop model.

Check for Electrical Interference:

  • Ensure that there are no nearby devices or power sources that may be causing electrical interference. Move any such devices away from the laptop and see if this resolves the issue.

Monitor Environmental Factors:

  • Ensure the laptop is in a well-ventilated area and not obstructed to avoid overheating, which could also contribute to noise.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
