My laptop HP Pavillon 15-cs3xxx, product ID 8XD90EA’ABD Serial number (Removed) BIOS DATE: 04/08/2020 BIOS Revision F.06 makes very loud grinding noise when I start the computer. This noise keeps going for minutes and disappears by knocking on the upperpart where the loudspeakers are and where the fan is present on the bottom.
I installed BIOS as recommended to one customer who had the same problem, by The_Fossette an HP Employee. But the problem persists. I de-installed the BIOS and the problem continues. What to do?

Hi @MIC2001,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you have trouble using the PC and getting a loud noise and you are using a bios version F.06, Sorry to hear about the issue,
It looks like you have not updated the BIOS on the PC for a long time, F.06 was released in 2020, but currently, the BIOS Version is F.23 Rev. A., It looks like you have to update the BIOS that should fix the current issue you are facing with the Pc.
Step 1: Please check the vents and make sure the Pc vents bot blocked and there is no dust in the Pc.
Step 2: Please use the link and update the BIOS to F.23 Rev.A from the HP Website
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Vikram,
Thank you very much for your advice and kind help.
I followed your advice, ensuring the vents are OK and no dust accumulated in the laptop, then installed the newest version of BIOS F.23 then restarted the laptop that took quite a long time. Then the grinding noise disappeared after this first time start of the laptop. TRhen to my disappointment, the Grinding noise was back from the second start of the computer till now, each time I start the laptop, the grinding noise is there and remains a while till I knock on the upper part of the computer where the speakers are, then the noise stops, then comes again, then with knocking on the speakers part it stops and the computer continues to work as normal. What can I do to stop this grinding noise? Any help and advice would be very welcome. Thank you all so very much.

@MIC2001, I see you were interacting with @VikramTheGreat however, he's away for now and I'd love to help you out.
It appears that your laptop's grinding noise has returned after the initial restart despite updating the BIOS and cleaning the vents. Here are some steps you can follow to attempt to resolve this issue:
1. Clean the air vents
Dust and debris can obstruct airflow, making the fans work harder and causing noise. To clean the air vents:
- Turn off the computer and remove any objects near the computer.
- Use a vacuum or canned air to remove dust from the vents underneath and on the sides of the computer.
2. Adjust power settings
Adjust the power settings to decrease power consumption, which can help the fans to maintain an optimal internal temperature:
- In Windows, search for and open Power, sleep and battery settings.
- On the Power mode menu, select either Balanced or Best power efficiency.
3. Use HP Command Center
On select HP notebook computers, you can use the HP Command Center app to control the thermal profile of the computer and reduce the noise generated by the cooling fan:
- In Windows, search for and open HP Command Center.
- Select Thermal Profile and choose Quiet mode.
4. Check for suspicious processes using Task Manager
Open Windows Task Manager to identify processes that are overburdening the CPU:
- Press ctrl + alt + delete, and then select Task Manager.
- Click More details if necessary.
- Sort the processes by CPU load in the Processes tab.
- Research and confirm any suspicious processes displayed in the list, then select each suspicious process and click End task.
5. Update the graphics driver
Use Windows Update to find and install updates for your graphics driver:
- Make sure your computer is connected to the internet.
- Use either the HP Support Assistant or the HP Support website to find the latest graphic driver for your computer.
