@Fjhd, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your Laptop Startup Issues After Update!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your laptop isn't starting after an automatic update, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try:

Restart the Laptop:

  • Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds to forcefully shut down the laptop. Wait a few seconds, and then press the power button again to restart it.

Check Power Connections:

  • Ensure that the power cord is securely connected to the laptop and the power outlet. If using a battery, make sure it is charged.

Remove External Devices:

  • Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, external keyboards/mice) and try to start the laptop again.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • For laptops with removable batteries:
    1. Disconnect the power adapter.
    2. Remove the battery.
    3. Hold the power button for 20 seconds.
    4. Reinsert the battery and reconnect the power adapter.
    5. Try to start the laptop.
  • For laptops with non-removable batteries:
    1. Disconnect the power adapter.
    2. Hold the power button for 20 seconds.
    3. Reconnect the power adapter and try to start the laptop.

Boot into Safe Mode:

  • If the laptop starts but doesn’t boot into Windows normally, try booting into Safe Mode:
    1. Press and hold the Shift key while clicking on the Restart option in the Windows login screen.
    2. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings.
    3. Click on Restart.
    4. Once the laptop restarts, select Safe Mode from the list.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
