All of the sudden my laptop was not charging I took for repairs because I thought my charging port was damaged but that not the problem because the laptop is able to read the charger as it plugged in but the battery doesn't want charger. Someone advised me to get a replacement for the battery. Before I do that I just want to make sure if others think the same thing. Please assist

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I recommend you update the BIOS and the chipset driver from the below link and check whether the issue is resolved.

If you continue facing the issue, reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager.
Here is how you do it.
Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”
Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”
Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.
Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”
Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.
Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.
