My laptop is off and plugged in. The ac adapter light is blinking white when it is plugged in. If it is unplugged the ac adapter light is solid white

I recommend you contact support as it looks like a hardware issue.
Here is how you can get in touch with the tech support.
1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/
2)Select the product type.
3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.
4)Select the country from the drop-down.
5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
- Is the battery getting charged when the charger is connected?
- Is the computer powering on only with the battery?
Meanwhile, I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check if it helps.

Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager.
Here is how you do it.
Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”
Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”
Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.
Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”
Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

I tried what was recommended but that did not work. In device manager it says something about an unknown device. When I click on update driver it says something about my printer so I tried to install the driver and it gives me errors. Not sure what to do now. I really appreciate your trying to assist me
