My laptop suddenly won't charge. It was fine yesterday. The cord is fine, no damage. Tried using a powerpack to charge, no luck either. This sounds like an internal issue with the PC???

Hi @503PIR,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check AC Adapter and Ports:

  • Confirm that the AC adapter is correctly plugged into the wall and the laptop.
  • Try using a different power outlet to ensure the issue isn’t with the outlet itself.
  • Inspect the charging port on your laptop for any debris or damage that might obstruct the connection.

Battery Reset:

  • Perform a hard reset of your laptop. Shut down your laptop and unplug it from all external devices. Then press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds. After releasing, plug in the charger and attempt to power it on.

Battery and Adapter Status:

  • Open the HP Support Assistant on your laptop to run a diagnostic test on the battery and adapter.
  • If you do not have the HP Support Assistant, you can download it from the HP Support website.

Check for Updates:

  • Ensure that your laptop has the latest BIOS and driver updates, as these can sometimes resolve hardware compatibility issues.

Inspect the Battery:

  • If your laptop has a removable battery, try removing and reinserting it. For non-removable batteries, follow the manufacturer's guidelines for safe battery maintenance.

I hope this helps.
