Hi there,

 

Today I tried to upgrade an HP Notebook 14 with a Samsung 970 Evo Plus (1TB) but the drive wasn't detected. I figured perhaps it's drivers, but then it dawned on me: perhaps this laptop only supports SATA.

 

1) Can anyone confirm if this laptop only supports SATA, as opposed to NVMe?

2) If so: would this one work: https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/1126249/crucial-mx500-m2-1tb/specificaties/
3) If not: can you suggest any other drives of 1TB I can use to upgrade this laptop?

See p. 3. Your diagnosis is right on the money. SATA M.2 only. And yes the Crucial MX500 should be fine. I personally prefer the Samsung 860 Evo but there are many more options than that.
