Hi,
My laptop also supports pci-e NVMe SSD's. I want to upgrade to 250gb M.2 slot ssd, already replaced hdd with ssd on sata port.
I wanted to buy 960 evo pro, but am now worried about battery drain and possible heating problem. Also in some test 960evo is not as fast as 500 and 1TB versions anyway and that real life speed is negligible.
So other option would be crucial mx300 275gb sata drive, that has awesome low power usage and 25gb more, or the old champ samsung 850evo, very good performance and I think power consumption is also good (performance a biit better than mx300 but almost identical).
So what do you think, does anyone have experince with battery drain, performance, maybe overheating and working slower anyway or with 960evo 250gb version? Or is there some official test done?
Which drive would you suggest, or which drive is in the model originally if you buy SSD version?
Thank you

HP uses Samsung 961 M.2 SSDs. This is the Service Manual:
This is the recommended 256 and 512 gig drives:
GNRC SSD 256 GB 228 0M2 PCIe 3x4SS NVMeTLC TL 847109-005
GNRC SSD512GB 2280M2PCIe3x4SS NVMeTLC TL 847110-002
HP sells the 512 for $102 which is a steal:
I have purchased a couple of these from HP and it is a Samsung Pro model PM961 I believe. Other users have reported issues with the Crucial MX series and the Samsung 960 series.
