HP 17 Laptop PC 17-cp3000 (799U8AV)

I purchased a non-HP laptop dock and it works great EXCEPT about 50% of the time the laptop does not recognize the HDMI monitor that is attached to the dock. Other devices (speakers & wired keyboard) always work. Restarting Windows or unplugging and re-plugging the USB-A cable to the dock fixes the issue. The dock tech support has run out of things to try and wants me to return the dock for a refund.

 

Any ideas of what to try to get the dock to work 100% of the time?

 

Alternatively, any suggestions on a different dock compatible with the HP laptop? I need these ports:

LAN - RJ45 (not required, but would be nice to have)
Keyboard - USB-A
Slide scanner - USB-A
Phone charging - USB-A (not required)
Monitor - HDMI
Speakers - mini

It has one hopeless USB 3.2 Gen 1.0 Type-C port; 5 Gbps signaling rate (data transfer only; charging or external monitors not supported) port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine,
  • Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter

If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (total 3), you can use

  • Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
  • Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as

                                     USB to HDMI Adapter

 

Other option is to use USB-A dock such as   https://support.hp.com/ie-en/product/details/hp-usb-3.0-3005pr-port-replicator/model/5256709

Thank you, the 3005pr device looks to be exactly what I am looking for. I like the j5Create dock I have now other than the problem of it not recognizing the HDMI monitor about half the time the laptop boots up.
